Anna T. Burr
   MEDFORD — Anna T. Burr, 107, of Medford Leas, died Sunday at her residence. She was born in Bordentown, the daughter of the late Samuel E. and Elizabeth C. T. Burr, and had lived in Bordentown until 1983 when she moved to the Medford Leas Retirement Community.
   She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bordentown for over 90 years. She also was a member of five different Bordentown City civic organizations and was president of most of them. Ms. Burr also was a member of four historical, four professional, 10 educational and two charitable organizations.
   She served in the field of education for over 42 years. A graduate of the Trenton Normal School (now the College of New Jersey) in 1920, she also attended Swathmore College for two years and graduated from Rider University in 1931. She graduated from Rutgers University in 1933 with a bachelor’s degree in education and in 1938 with a masters, also from Rutgers.
   Ms. Burr is survived by a nephew, Samuel E. Burr III, and eight great-nieces and nephews.
   Memorial services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at 1 Medford Leas Way, Medford, and also at 2 p.m. July 13 from the First Baptist Church of Bordentown. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 200 Prince St., Bordentown NJ 08505.
Dorothy Lenzi
   COLUMBUS — Dorothy Lenzi, 93, of the Homestead section of Columbus, died Friday at the Virtua Health and Rehab Center in Lumberton. Mrs. Lenzi was born in Malta and spent most of her life in Queens, N.Y. before relocating to Columbus 19 years ago. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Mount Holly and she loved bingo, line dancing and traveling.
   Mrs. Lenzi is survived by her daughter, Ellen Marie Lenzi of Columbus, and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lenzi was the wife of the late Tobias Lenzi. She was the sister of the late Mary Leonardi, Joseph Lanzon and Vincent Lanzon.
   Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, High Street and Bartram Avenue, Mount Holly. Interment was in Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery in Flushing, N.Y. Contributions in her memory may be made to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eaves Dr., Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053. Arrangements are by the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High St., Mount Holly.
John L. Gordon Jr.
   JACOBSTOWN — John L. Gordon Jr., 68, died June 29 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Gordon was born in Trenton. He resided in Yardville for 32 years and had lived in Jacobstown for the past 10 years. He was a retired technical specialist from INX International. In 1997 he was granted a patent for a sealed label having anti-counterfeit construction. He was a former coach at Sunnybrae Little League and a former member of the Lacy Elks, BPOE 2518. An airplane enthusiast, he was a member of A.M.A. for model aviation and radio control planes. He enjoyed fishing and NASCAR.
   Son of the late John L. and Florence A. Bainbridge Gordon Sr., he is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Carol Rooney Gordon; two sons, John L. Gordon III of Jacobstown and his former wife Donna Belotti of Haverford, PA and James P. Gordon and his wife Mary Quinn of West Trenton; two granddaughters, Kristin Gordon and Brighid Quinn-Gordon; two sisters, Alice A. Welsh and husband William of Manahawkin and Joan L. Bice of Evans Mills, NY; a brother, William H. Gordon and his wife Lynne of Brownville, NY; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Marge and Bob Seeds of Mercerville, William and Betty Rooney of South Carolina, Betsy Lachance of Florida, Kathleen Smith of Florida and Carrie Rooney of White Horse; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
   Funeral services were held Monday at Knott’s Colonial Funeral Home, 2946 S. Broad St., Hamilton. Interment was in Crosswicks Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 601 Hamilton Ave., Trenton, NJ 08629.
Mary Palmieri
   BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP — Mary T. Palmieri died June 26 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton.
   Born in Trenton, daughter of the late Pietro Torretto and Theresa Patricha, she had been a lifelong area resident.
   Formerly employed by the Westinghouse and Monsanto companies, she had also been a demonstrator at ShopRite in Bordentown Township.
   Mrs. Palmieri enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, and cooking Italian meals, baking homemade bread and crocheting blankets for her family.
   Wife of the late Frank Sabatino and Louis S. Palmieri, she was predeceased by eight siblings and her grandson, James Whitehouse Jr.
   Mrs. Palmieri is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Linda A. and James H. Whitehouse Sr. of Bordentown Township; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Jean Geiger of Hamilton Square, and Josephine and Thomas White of Ewing; two sisters-in-law, Florence and Marge Toretta; a granddaughter and her fiance, Maria Daley of Maple Shade and Fred Garzon Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Shawn, Amber and Conner Daley, and Alyssa and Matthew Garzon; many nieces, nephews and other relatives; and longtime friends David, Julie and Pat Chiacchio of Trenton.
   Cremation was held privately at Mrs. Palmieri’s request.
   Arrangements were by David C. Chiacchio of Chiacchio Southview Funeral Home, Trenton.
   A gathering of friends for remembrance of Mary Palmieri will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, July 14, at 20 Hanover Court, Bordentown Township.
Sandra Walters
   COOKSTOWN — Sandra A. Walters, 68, of Cookstown died June 26. Born in Cookstown and a lifelong resident, she had been a nurse’s aid at Meadow Lakes before retiring.
   Mrs. Walters was a member of Cookstown United Methodist Church and Cookstown Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
   Wife of the late Glen Walters and daughter of the late Joseph Hopkins, she is survived by her children, Michael and Linda Walters, Robert and Belinda Walters, and Glen Walters, all of Cookstown; Joann and Jim Walentukonis of New Egypt, and Marilyn Walters and Bernice Salefski of Browns Mills; her mother and stepfather, Mary Ann and George Whitbeck of Cookstown; her stepbrothers, John Allen and Patrick Whitbeck; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
   The funeral was Saturday at Cookstown United Methodist Church, followed by burial in Jacobstown Cemetery.
   Arrangements were by Mark C. Tilghman Funeral Home, Maple Shade.
   Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice, or to the family.
Maria E. Pontoriero
   TRENTON — Maria E. Pontoriero, 78, died June 26. Born in Irvington, she resided in Trenton for the past 55 years.
   Daughter of the late Charles and the late Elizabeth Hasmiller Van Der Decker, she is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles Pontoriero; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Kathleen Pontoriero of Bordentown; her grandchildren, Nicole, Shawn and Justin; and two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law, Pasquale Pontoriero, George and Patricia Pontoriero, Marion Pontoriero, Catherine Pontoriero and Catherine Mineo. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
   Rite of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday at Chambers D’Errico and Correnti Funeral Home, Trenton. Entombment of cremains followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
   Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the Compassionate Care Hospice, 601 Hamilton Ave., Trenton NJ 08609.
Leonard L. Thomas
   Leonard L. Thomas, 72, died June 24 at Samaritan Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mt. Holly.
   Born in Mt. Holly, Mr. Thomas was a lifelong resident of Florence. Mr. Thomas retired from the Burlington County Highway Dept. He had also been employed by the Florence Township Public Works Dept., the A&P Food Distribution Center in Florence and Yates Industries in Bordentown.
   He was a member of the Marconi Lodge in Florence and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and cooking. In his earlier years, he was a weight lifter and enjoyed shooting darts and playing pool.
   Son of the late Joseph and Stella Brown Thomas, and brother of the late Daniel Thomas, Herbert Thomas, Joseph (Gene) Thomas, Richard Thomas and Pearl Jeanette Thomas, he is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Jennifer and Dean Cavalier, and Joanne Thomas, all of Burlington; and three grandchildren, Shawn, Nicole, and Erica Cavalier. He is also survived by his former wife, Barbara Thomas of Burlington; his sister-in-law, Mary Thomas of Florence; six nieces, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many long-time friends.
   The funeral was held from The Dennison Funeral Home in Florence and Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Clare’s Church. Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Florence.
