Psychology and humor will mix at program

By Mary Ellen Zangara Special Writer
Standup comedian and neuro-psychologist Matt Bellace will offer parents tips on helping teens make the right choices during a presentation Tuesday sponsored by the Manville Municipal Alliance and Manville School District.
Dr. Bellace’s presentation and discussion — “The Power of Choice: How to Support Your Teens in Making Positive Choices” — will be offered free to the public at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Manville High School auditorium. Refreshments will be served, and door prizes and child care will be available.
The program is being offered in conjunction with the national observance of Red Ribbon Week highlighting efforts to reduce drug, alcohol and tobacco use by teens.
Students of Manville High School and Alexander Batcho Intermediate School will hear Dr. Bellace during the school day.
The topics of discussion include “How parents can communicate with their children without arguments,” “How young people can learn healthy coping mechanisms,” research on adolescent’s brain development, alcohol and other drug abuse prevention and more.
Dr. Bellace holds a doctorate in clinical neuro-psychology and has a decade of speaking experience — along with experience as a standup comedian.
