With 20 unanswered points, Princeton held a 27-14 halftime lead over No. 21 Hampton in the first-ever meeting of the Ivy League and Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference teams.
The Pirates did not allow the Tigers another point while scoring 34 of their own, 27 in the fourth quarter, in a 48-27 win Saturday before 15,329 at Princeton Stadium.
Bill Foran passed for one touchdown and ran for two others, and Connor Louden converted two of his three field goal attempts in the first half. Foran passed for 181 yards and ran for 60 yards for a Tigers offense that showed it could move the ball effectively with 484 yards of total offense.
Princeton twice failed to convert in the red zone in the second half, and after stopping the Tigers on fourth-and-goal from the 1, Hampton drove for the tying touchdown with 9:56 left. After a Princeton fumble, they pulled ahead, 34-27, on Kevin Beverly’s 1-yard touchdown.
They didn’t stop there after two more interceptions helped them score two more touchdowns to improve to 4-1 overall. Princeton turned the ball over five times Saturday to fall to 2-2 overall. They return to Ivy action at Brown next Saturday.
