MANVILLE — Mary J. Shutack died Jan. 16 at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville. She was 76.
Born in Maizeville, Pa., she was a resident of Manville for the past 58 years.
Mrs. Shutack was a homemaker after working at Diehls Corp. in Bridgewater for many years. She also worked at Foothill Acres Nursing Home in Hillsborough as activities director and at the Lytel Corporation in Branchburg before retiring in 1991.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Hillsborough, where she was a charter member of the Rosary Society and also a former catechism teacher and co-director of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Youth Group.
She was a member of the Somerset-Hunterdon women’s bowling association, the Thomas J. Kavanaugh VFW Post 2290 Ladies Auxiliary, Manville Senior Citizens Club and the Manville Democratic Club where she was a former District 5 committeewoman.
She was also a member of the G.C.U. Lodge No. 254.
Three brothers, Peter, Joseph and John Sluck; and a sister, Anna Blazovsky are deceased.
Surviving are her husband, John P. Shutack of Manville; two sons, John G. of Hamilton Square and Kevin P. of Neshanic Station; two brothers, Michael Sluck of Maizeville, Pa., and Peter Sluck of Monroe; a sister, Julia Ferencz of Bethlehem, Pa.; three grandchildren; and 11 nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Jan. 19 from Ketusky Funeral Home in Manville, followed by Divine Liturgy at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Hillsborough.
