Princeton Borough
Paula Hoffman, 60, of Princeton was charged with driving while intoxicated at 2:11 a.m. Sunday following a motor vehicle stop on Nassau Street, police said. She was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on her own recognizance.
Rex Nung-Gahn Tien, 19, of Princeton was charged with driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana at 12:40 p.m. Saturday following a motor vehicle stop on University Place, police said. After Mr. Tien was transported to police headquarters and processed, the arresting officer found a bag of marijuana that belonged to Mr. Tien in the backseat of the patrol vehicle, according to the report. Mr. Tien was later released on his own recognizance.
Brendon Luby, 21, of Princeton, was charged with shoplifting at 3:02 a.m. Saturday following a shoplifting investigation at the Wawa store, 140 University Place, police said. Mr. Luby was arrested after it was revealed that he had shoplifted $1.99 worth of food items from the store, according to the report. He was transported to police headquarters, processed and released on his own recognizance.
Princeton Township
Takeshi Hayakawa, 30, of Plainsboro was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and speeding at 12:20 a.m. Thursday after he was observed traveling at a high rate of a speed in an Acura TL on South Harrison Street, police said. After Mr. Hayakawa was stopped on Route 1 near Plainsboro Road, the officer detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath, police said. Mr. Hayakawa was arrested after a series of balance and coordination tests were administered. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was processed and released to a friend.
Lorena I. Barria, 31, of Yardley, Pa., was arrested 4:35 p.m. Sunday on a warrant from Bridgewater Township. She was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for having an outdated inspection sticker, police said. She was transported to police headquarters, where she was processed and released after posting the $89 bail.
Montgomery
Police assisted the Genesee County, N.Y., sheriff’s department on Tuesday in locating an individual wanted for violating a restraining order. Police said they were dispatched to a residence at Willow Road and arrested Richard Lawson, 51, of Leroy, N.Y., on an outstanding warrant at 9:14 a.m. Sunday. Mr. Lawson was also charged with being a fugitive from justice and his bail was set at $50,000. He was transported to Somerset County jail awaiting extradition to New York.
An employee of Wawa reported damage to his vehicle between Saturday night and Sunday morning, while it was parked in the store’s lot. Scratches, that included profanity, were found on the front and rear driver side doors. Damage is estimated at $1,000.
Several persons were injured in a two-vehicle crash at the Route 206 railroad bridge in Belle Mead about 10 a.m. Sunday. William T. Allison, 76, of Naples, Fla., was southbound when his pickup truck crossed into the northbound lane on the bridge, striking a vehicle driven by Dariusz Zarzycki, 39, of Philadelphia, police reported. Mr. Allison was transported to Somerset Medical Center by Montgomery Emergency Medical Services for a laceration to his face. Mr. Zarzycki’s wife Isabella, 33, and daughter Sylvia, 7, were transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick with head and abdominal injuries respectively. Mr. Allison was issued a summons for failing to keep right. Montgomery Fire Co. No. 1 also responded to assist. Route 206 was closed for approximately 1½ hours due to the crash.
A single-vehicle crash at the one-lane bridge on Opossum Road led to the arrest of John B. Singel III, 40, of Montgomery at 11:40 p.m. Feb. 15. Police were alerted by the On-Star in-car alert system to the crash at Opossum and Orchard roads, where it was apparent that Mr. Singel had struck the bridge, according to report. Mr. Singel was standing outside his vehicle uninjured when police arrived. He was charged with careless driving, driving while intoxicated and refusing to submit breath samples.
Monica W. Wolinski, 32, of Hillsborough was charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on East Mountain Road about 8:50 p.m. Wednesday. Police said an officer clocked Ms. Wolinski’s northbound car on Route 601 traveling at 81 mph and was able to stop it on East Mountain Road. Following field sobriety tests she was taken to headquarters and later released.
West Windsor
Someone stole a wallet and a cell phone with a total value of $149 from the unlocked locker of a Plainsboro student at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South. The case is under investigation.
Someone stole $107 from an unlocked locker of a Parlin resident participating in basketball activities at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South on Wednesday.
A Lawrence resident’s purse was taken from her shopping cart while she was unloading items outside the Target store in the Nassau Park shopping center at 3:41 p.m. Wednesday. A Samsung cell phone, $450 in cash and other miscellaneous items with a total value of around $750 were taken, police said. The case is under investigation.
Six candles were taken from Yankee Candle in the Nassau Park shopping center at 12:12 p.m. Wednesday. The candles were valued at $143. The case is under investigation.
Plainsboro
Someone broke into a Franklin Drive residence through a kitchen window between Saturday and Sunday and stole money, jewelry and a Wii gaming system with a total value of $25,400, police reported. The case is under investigation.
Hildrea L. King, 46, of Trenton was charged with driving while intoxicated after she crashed her car into another vehicle on southbound Route 1 near the Ruby Tuesday restaurant at 4:41 p.m. Tuesday, police said. Police investigating the accident found Ms. King to be intoxicated, according to the report. She was also charged with reckless driving, careless driving, and failure to exhibit documents.
Bernardo D. Guadron, 23, of Quail Ridge Drive was charged with drunken driving following a traffic stop on Dey Road at 2:20 a.m. Wednesday. After stopping Mr. Guadron’s vehicle, responding police found him to be intoxicated, according to the report. He was also charged with reckless driving, tailgating and failure to maintain a lane.
