Stephen Distler and his wife, Dr. Roxanne Kendall, have committed $2 million toward the creation of University Medical Center at Princeton’s new campus in Plainsboro.
”Without a doubt, what’s most exciting is the opportunity we have to build a regional medical center in our backyard and to build it from scratch,” said Mr. Distler, a Princeton resident, in a statement released by the Princeton Healthcare System Foundation.
Mr. Distler is chairman of the board for the newly launched Bank of Princeton and the owner of “elements,” a new Princeton restaurant scheduled to open later this year on Route 206 at Leigh Avenue.
He is retired from private equity firm Warburg Pincus, where he was managing director and treasurer for more than 20 years, specializing in private equity investments in education. He is a trustee of Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Kendall is a pediatrician.
Mr. Distler also serves on the boards of Princeton HealthCare System and its foundation, and is leading the fund-raising campaign for the new $400 million hospital scheduled to open in 2011.
”We are extremely grateful for Steve and Roxanne’s commitment to the hospital and to the greater Princeton community,” stated Dick Scriber, chairman of the board of Princeton HealthCare System Foundation.
