Somerset County crews will be repairing the bridge on Grandview Road near Hollow Road from Monday, March 31 through April 4. That portion of Grandview Road will be closed to traffic and motorists will be detoured using Fairview Road and Camp Meeting Avenue.
A report of a disabled vehicle led to the arrest of a woman from Somerset on Sunday. At 5:20 a.m., a Route 533 resident reported a car on the shoulder with hazard lights on. The responding officer found the driver, Sherri Swearengin, 22, asleep behind the wheel, according to the report. The officer detected evidence of intoxication and conducted a field sobriety test, police said, and Ms. Swearengin was arrested and transported to police headquarters for processing. She was later released on her own recognizance.
A two-car collision on Route 206 near Airpark Road occurred at 11:08 a.m. Sunday. John Bongiovanni, 44, of Freehold was southbound on Route 206 when his car struck the rear of a car driven by Steven LeBlanc, 18, of Hillsborough, according to police. Mr. LeBlanc was stopped in traffic waiting to make a left turn into Research Park. Mr. Bongiovanni complained of neck pain and was transported by Montgomery Emergency Medical Services to University Medical Center at Princeton. He was issued a summons for careless driving and his vehicle was towed from the scene with heavy front-end damage.
The Baker Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealership on Route 206 reported damage to an entry door in an apparent break-in attempt. A service entry door on the south side of the building was damaged between March 14 and Monday. It appeared that someone had attempted to physically pull open the locked door. Entry was not gained and nothing was reported stolen. Repair costs to the door were estimated at $50.
Timothy F. Boller, 50, of Montgomery was charged with driving while intoxicated at 2:49 p.m. Monday, following a multi-car accident on Route 206.
Police said they received reports of a northbound vehicle on Route 206 in the southbound lane. A responding officer observed a 2007 Volvo XC90 traveling north partially in the southbound lane near Opossum Road, according to the report, and then observed the Volvo travel completely into the southbound lane and strike the rear of a car driven by Sushama R. Sekhar, 34, of Mount Laurel. The Volvo then struck another vehicle driven by Alan R. Goodheart, 67, of Princeton, head-on at the intersection of Platz Drive, police said. The Volvo then continued north, crossed back through the northbound lane and came to rest against a guardrail. Mr. Goodheart complained of pain in his right shoulder and chest areas and Mr. Boller complained of pain in his left wrist. Both were transported to University Medical Center at Princeton by Montgomery Township Emergency Medical Services, where they were treated and released. Mr. Boller received an additional summons for failure to keep right.
Police responded to a three-car crash at Route 206 near Grandview Road at 4:49 p.m. Monday. Lance K. Kopac, 42, of Hillsborough was driving a 1996 Ford Bronco north on Route 601 near the intersection with Grandview Road. Mr. Kopac’s vehicle struck the rear of a 2001 Dodge Ram driven by Daniel R. Struble, 24, of Hillsborough, that was stopped in traffic. The force of the impact pushed Mr. Struble’s vehicle into the rear of a 1995 Honda driven by Colleen M. Rand, 49, of Hillsborough. No injuries were reported. Mr. Kopac was issued a summons for careless driving.
West Windsor
West Windsor detectives arrested a man Wednesday wanted in connection with a burglary at a Village Road West residence on Feb. 13, police reported. John Thomas Fuller, 42, of Philadelphia was charged with burglary, theft and criminal mischief. Police said he forced open a front door at the home and stole several pieces of jewelry and cash. Police had put out a warrant and Mr. Fuller was eventually arrested in Lower Makefield Township, Pa., and extradited to New Jersey. Mr. Fuller is currently being held on $30,000 bail at the Mercer County workhouse.
Someone removed a mail package containing a cellular phone from the outside of a Salem Court residence between 2:30 and 6 p.m. Tuesday, police reported. The Verizon phone was valued at $400.
Damage to equipment was reported at the South Post Road pump station between March 14 and 17. Total damage was $3,250 including $1,000 to a rain gauge, $200 to an air conditioner, $1,000 to a hydrant, $1,000 to an electric meter, and $50 to an outdoor light. The case is under investigation.
Plainsboro
Shawn M. Gale, 18, of Philadelphia was caught on surveillance video stealing registration slips filled out by guests from the front desk of the Homewood Suites Hotel off Route 1 at 1:03 a.m. Feb. 27, police said. At the time, Mr. Gale was dressed as a woman, according to the report. After a warrant was issued for credit card theft, Mr. Gale was arrested by Lawrence Township police and found to be in possession of four hotel registration slips, which contained the credit card information of some hotel guests, police said. His bail was set at $5,000 and he was also charged with theft by unlawful taking. Mr. Gale is currently at the Mercer County Correctional Facility.
Adam Bogiela, 44, of Morrisville, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and speeding after a traffic stop at 11:52 a.m. Monday on northbound Route 1. Police said they stopped Mr. Bogiela’s car for going 78 mph in a 55 mph zone and later found him to be intoxicated.
Brandon S. Ramp, 21, of Allentown, Pa., was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and making an improper turn on a green arrow after a motor vehicle stop on Scudders Mill Road at 2:29 a.m. Tuesday. Police said they stopped Mr. Ramp’s car after they saw him run a red light and then stop in the middle of the intersection.
