ALLENTOWN — The Allentown Public Library Association will host Trivia Night, a fundraiser to benefit the Allentown branch of the Monmouth County Library System.
Trivia Night will be held at 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at the Hope Fire Company, 82 Route 526, Upper Freehold Township.
The Allentown Public Library Association is a nonprofit organization that owns and operates the historic Main Street building that houses the library.
“The association pays for everything having to do with the library building, so that money has to be raised. Trivia Night is one of the fundraisers we are doing this year to pay for our operating expenses,” said Roxanne Robinson, president of the association.
“This is the first time we have done a trivia night. I brought the idea to the library’s (directors) as a possible fundraiser because I attend these kinds of events … and I love them. So I just thought, trivia and research and questions and those kinds of things, it’s a natural link, trivia and the library,” Robinson said.
Tickets are $10 per person and will be sold in advance at the library, 16 S. Main St., Allentown.
“We are encouraging people to sign up as a team. The maximum team size is 10 because we can’t fit more than that around a table,” Robinson said.
Food will be available for purchase and Trivia Night participants can expect to play for prizes and bragging rights.
“I am hoping Trivia Night is a big success because I think it is a good marriage between a fundraiser and the library,” Robinson said.
The Allentown Library has been a branch of the Monmouth County Library System since 1965. Allentown has had a library in one form or another since 1874. The library moved into its current home in a former church in 1974, according to a previous article.
