NEW EGYPT Lois Joy Thomas, 69, died April 28 at home.
Born in New Egypt and a lifelong resident, she was a life member and past president of the New Egypt Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, an honorary member of the New Egypt Fire Company and, for many years, was the fire company’s emergency radio operator. She was also a past member of the New Egypt First Aid Squad.
Early in her life, she worked for her father in his insurance and real estate business.
Mrs. Thomas is survived by her husband, Kenneth; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Kent Amburgey of New Egypt, and Dawn and Michael Evanko of Morganton, N.C.; six grandchildren, Kelly and Kyle Amburgey of New Egypt, and Thomas, Mark, Sarah and Elizabeth Evanko of Morganton, N.C.; her sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Richard Zammito of Clearwater, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Judy Thomas of Bradford, Pa.; and a brother-in-law, Harry Thomas of Cleveland, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Sr. and Florence Horner Palmer; and by her brother, Frank Palmer Jr.
The funeral was Saturday at Tilghman Funeral Home, New Egypt, followed by burial in Jacobstown Cemetery, Jacobstown.
