MONROE — The seniors of Monroe Township High School are getting ready for the big event.
The students will graduate Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Sovereign Bank Arena in Trenton. Tickets are required for the event.
”We’ll be having speeches by the valedictorian, salutatorian, some selected students, the principal and myself,” said Superintendent Ralph Ferrie. “We’ll also have some student performances, as well as honoring the graduates.”
Seniors soon to be heading off to college are excited to begin the next step in their lives.
”I’m looking forward to making a fresh start and meeting new people,” said Ryan Brown, who will be attending Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where he plans on running track for the school. “But I’m going to miss the familiarity and knowing everybody, because we’re close-knit.”
Other graduates are anticipating being on their own for the first time.
”I’m definitely looking forward to more independence and being away from home,” said Kyle Zablocki, who will be attending Rutgers University. “I’m going to miss how easy it is to hang out with my friends. I can’t just call my buddies down the road to hang out anymore.”
Brothers Zach and Jason Kady both said they were excited about the experiences that wait for them.
”I’m looking forward to being on my own and getting away from my parents,” said Jason, who is deciding between Seton Hall University and Messiah College. “I’m going to miss my friends and the relationships from high school. I’m also going to miss the mac-n-cheese from the school lunches.”
