Friday’s nice weather helped the senior citizens in Manville as they traveled to the Eagles Club in Bridgewater for their annual picnic. About 125 sat in the shaded picnic grove for an afternoon of good food, socializing and fun. The picnic ran from noon to 4 p.m.
Natalie Walkoviak president of the senior citizens for the past 14 years enjoys the annual event.
”I have been running this picnic for about 10 years. We have our Ways and Means and we give prizes and we have bingo. We have continuous food,” she said.
She has a caterer for the food and has used them from the very first picnic. The seniors enjoyed a menu of hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers, French fries, corn, chicken, meatballs, sausage and peppers, watermelon and more.
Ms. Walkoviak reinstituted the picnic after many years of not having one.
”I understand that they had a picnic one time and no one followed through with it,” Ms. Walkoviak said. “I followed through because I was trying to keep the people interested in stuff. I try to make nice things for them. I enjoy doing this for the people.
”When I don’t enjoy it, I am out of here,” she added.
