Bordentown Township Community Day scheduled for Sept. 20

Parade will honor Little League champions

BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP — The Township Committee announced the annual Community Day will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 20.  The event grounds are located in and around the Senior Community Center on Municipal Drive.
    A parade will be held in honor of the Little League All-Star State Champions beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the city.  The parade route begins on Crosswicks Street, proceeding onto Farnsworth Avenue over Route 130 into the township and left onto Municipal Drive to have players and coaches participate in the opening ceremony at 11 a.m.  In case of inclement weather the parade only will be held the following day, Sunday, Sept. 21 at the same time and place.
    The opening ceremony will consist of many dignitaries in attendance that include Assemblyman Joseph Malone (R-30th), Assemblyman Ronald Dancer (R-30th), Freeholders Fenton and Donnelly, County Clerk Wade Hale, Bordentown City Mayor John Collom, Deputy Mayor James Lynch and Committeeman John Wehrman.  There will be a presentation by the mayor to the players and an unveiling of a sign created for the hometown heroes to be placed permanently at Northern Community Park.  
    The Bordentown Little League District All-Stars 2008 12-year-olds are: Nick Callahan, Austin Chaszar, Cole Clauser, Zack Gakeler, Austin Goeke, Eddie Holmes, Clarke Laba, Austin Papp, Tyler Revay, Ryan Shinn, Tommy Walters, Patrick Welsh; manager is Pat Welsh and coach is Dave Revay.
    Community Day will have crafters, informational booths from the county and local organizations and antique cars.  A moonwalk ride, children’s crafts, games, treats, food and drinks are free to the public while supplies last.  There will be a live band, Todd’s Porch Band, and Black Tie DJs.  This is a rain or shine event.
