MILLSTONE — Voters have re-elected Republicans Nancy Grbelja and Gary Dorfman to new three-year terms on the Township Committee in Millstone Township.
On Election Day, Nov. 3, Dorfman and Grbelja received 822 and 752 votes, respectively, to out-pace Democrat Ray Dothard, who received 476 votes. The results are unofficial until they are certified by Monmouth County.
Grbelja and Dorfman will begin serving their new terms in January.
Dothard had a positive response to the outcome of the election, although he did not win a seat on the governing body, which will remain a 5-0 Republican majority.
“I would like to thank the (people) who voted for me … more voters are beginning to share my concerns about Millstone Township and the present Township Committee club. I did not put up any signs or several pages of propaganda (online) or knock on any doors. … I want (the people) who voted for me to keep the faith. Next time I will knock on more doors. Eventually we will get a needed different voice on that committee,” Dothard said.
Dorfman and Grbelja issued a statement and said, “This is certainly the outcome we were hoping for and expected. We are glad the residents had confidence in our work to return us to office for another three years. We work every day to best serve all of Millstone. We always ask the public, how are we doing? What would you have us do different? The feedback we get is almost always supportive and positive.
“Being re-elected reminds us how lucky we are that Millstone is the type of town it is. We need to continuously inform the public of the important issues. We need to manage creating and protecting the community we all love and enjoy. … As the community ages and residents move in and out, it becomes important to review our community’s values and goals and help our residents understand the issues involved,” the Republicans said.
