The Burlington County Library Bordentown Branch Youth Services Department offers a variety of programs this summer. Registration is necessary for all programs. A Burlington County library card is required. Please note that registration begins two weeks prior to the date of the program.
The address for the Bordentown Library is 18 E. Union St., Bordentown. Registration can be done in person or by calling 609-298-0622. Library hours are Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
For children
After school craft Sept. 18 at 4 p.m. for kids ages 8-12 years old. Get crafty! Get creative! Come join the fun!
Baby Time Sept. 19 at 10:30 a.m. for babies ages 12-15 months. Join other mothers and caregivers with your babies for stories, songs, music, movement, fingerplays and socialization activities.
Chess Club Sept. 24 at 4 p.m. for kids in third grade and older. Come to the library for a “pick up” game of chess with your friends and neighbors. Bring your own chess set if you have one.
Toddler Time Sept. 26 at 10:30 a.m. for toddlers ages 16-23 months. Bring your toddlers and join other mothers and caregivers for stories, songs, music, fingerplays and socialization activities.
Wii for Tweens Sept 27 at 10:30 a.m. for kids 8-12 years old.
Wii for Teens Sept. 27 at 3 p.m. for teens 13-17 years old. Come and enjoy this popular interactive game system!
For adults
Wii for Seniors a program for seniors interested in trying out the all- age video game system, meets alternative Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. in September. Sign up to try your hand at Bowling, Tennis, and other sports. Or you can flex your mental muscles with Big Brain Academy. Our game library is expanding, so we might have something for you to try! Come try out the latest rage of senior centers and retirement communities! No video game experience required, only the ability to learn and have fun. This program will require registration. New class: Tai Chi on the Weekend. By popular demand, the Bordentown Library will be offering an Introduction to Tai Chi and Qigong on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 10:30 a.m. to noon.
Tai chi is an ancient martial arts form that today is practiced widely for its health and relaxation benefits. Those in search of well being and a way to combat stress have made tai chi one of the most popular low-intensity workouts around the world. Qigong is an ancient Chinese system of postures, exercises, breathing techniques and meditation. Qigong is easy learn and enjoyable to do. Join us for this Saturday morning session to learn qigong and a simple tai chi form.
Our new Genealogy Workshop will be held monthly. If you are new to the world of genealogy and don’t know where to start, or if you are a seasoned researcher, join us for this informative evening. Each workshop will focus on a different genealogy topic. This month’s workshop will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 30, from 7 to 8 p.m.
Find out how to get the information you want using online library resources and search engines. This Intermediate Internet class is being offered on Thursday, Sept. 18, from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Learn effective search techniques and how to evaluate a web site. Explore popular Web sites. Mouse skill required.
