BORDENTOWN: Gun accident wounds city man

BORDENTOWN CITY—Police are investigating an incident Friday when they say Jordon Morgan, 22, of Second Street, accidentally shot himself in his left hand and leg, fracturing his femur.
Police said they responded to a report of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at 12:03 a.m. Friday on the 100 block of Second Street, and arrived to find Mr. Morgan on the living room floor.
A .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun had fallen out of Mr. Morgan’s jacket pocket, police reported, and when he went to retrieve it he accidentally fired a round into his left hand, which it penetrated before lodging itself in his left leg.
Mr. Morgan underwent surgery at the Helene Fuld Trauma Center in Trenton, and was listed Monday in stable condition and as recovering from the gunshot. According to police, Mr. Morgan said the other people living in the residence were asleep at the time of the incident, and that he purchased the gun in Delaware before moving back to New Jersey several weeks ago.
Police seized the gun and said Monday the matter was under investigation, and that criminal charges may still be filed against Mr. Morgan.
