STOCKTON — Rose Garefino Celli, 88, died at home Dec. 24.
A lifelong resident of Stockton, she was a member of St. Agnes R.C. Church in Stockton and its Altar and Rosary Society, the Lambertville Delaware Valley Senior Citizens, the Stockton Civic Committee, and the Stockton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, for which she had served as president.
Over the years she and her late husband and son made numerous visits to the St. Ann de Beaupre Shrine in Quebec, Canada.
Daughter of the late Clementi and Madeline Bova Garefino, widow of former Stockton Mayor Gigi Celli and mother of the late Louis, she was predeceased by five brothers, Anello, Anthony, Dominic, Thomas and Michael Garefino, and four sisters, Reba Guarnieri, Kathryn Butiello, Bernice Ragusa and Caroline Mattiello. She is survived by two sisters, Josephine Weiss of West Amwell Township, Gloria Garefino of Stockton; one brother Charles E. Garefino Sr. of New Hope, Pa.; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes R.C. Church, Route 29, Stockton.
Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery in Lambertville.
Calling hours will be Sunday from 5-8 p.m. at the Garefino Funeral Home, 12 N. Franklin St. (Route 179), Lambertville.
