West Amwell

   The West Amwell Township Police Department reported:
   — On Jan. 27 at 9:44 a.m., South Hunterdon Regional High School reported that electrical cords had been disconnected from several buses during the late night or early morning hours (Jan. 26-27). The electrical cords are used to maintain a warm engine temperature. It was determined that no damage was sustained by the buses and no disruption in normal transportation occurred. Patrolman Timothy Vanselous is investigating.
   — On Jan. 28 at 10:51 a.m., police investigated a one-vehicle crash on Route 202, north of the Mt. Airy Dilts Corner exit. Jordan Allan, 78, of West Hartford, Conn., was going north when he lost control of his vehicle after coming in contact with a slushy surface. The vehicle left the roadway and the driver’s side hit a tree. Lambertville Rescue Squad, West Amwell Township Fire/Rescue and paramedics from the Hunterdon Medical Center worked over one hour to extricate Mr. Allan from the vehicle. He was transported to the Hunterdon Medical Center with hand and shoulder injuries. No summonses were issued by Patrolman Vanselous.
   — On Jan. 29 at 3:51 p.m., Ferguson Supply on Route 31 reported criminal mischief to a fence. Someone cut a 3-by-3-foot hole in a chain link fence surrounding the property. Investigating Patrolman Edward Skillman determined there was no attempted entry to the structure and nothing was taken from the exterior of the building. The investigation is continuing.
   — On Jan. 30 at l:30 p.m., police went to the ESC School on Route 179 to investigate a reported assault. It was stated that three girls (two 16 and one 17), all of Trenton, attacked a 16-year-old girl, also of Trenton, in a classroom, They allegedly punched the victim. The incident is still under investigation by Patrolman Vanselous with charges pending.
   — On Feb. 3 at 5:55 a.m., police investigated a one-vehicle accident involving a residence on Brunswick Pike just east of the Lambertville City line. Charles A. Caffey, of Kintnersville, Pa., was going east on a lightly snow-covered surface, lost control and hit a residence owned by Amanda Philipp. Emergency units from West Amwell Fire/Rescue, Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad, Lambertville City Fire Department and the Hunterdon County Emergency Services, along with a Technical/Structural Rescue Unit from the Flemington-Raritan Rescue Squad responded. The lone resident of the residence and the driver were uninjured. The residence sustained substantial damage to a porch area. The crash is under investigation by Patrolman Vanselous.
   — On Feb. 3 at 6 a.m., police investigated a one-vehicle crash on Linvale-Harbourton Road, just north of Rock Road East. Guillermo Corrales, 29, of Salisbury, Md., was going north when he began passing a vehicle, lost control and hit a tree. The Amwell Valley Ambulance Corps, Lambertville-New Hope Rescue Squad and West Amwell Township Fire/Rescue worked for one-half-hour to extricate a passenger, Oscar Vargrass, 38, of Trenton. Mr. Vargrass sustained a broken leg and arm injuries, Another passenger, Ronnie Hernandez, 24, of Trenton, sustained a back injury. Both were transported to the Hunterdon Medical Center for treatment. Mr. Corrales, who was unhurt, was issued summonses for improper passing, failure to maintain lane control, failure to keep right and failure to wear a seat belt. He was taken into custody by Patrolman Edward Skillman after a computer check revealed there was an outstanding criminal warrant out of Colts Neck Municipal Court on a forgery offense. He was processed and transported to the Hunterdon County Jail in default of $5,000 cash bail. The crash was investigated by Lt. Stephen Bartzak.
