Jane Wesby, event chairwoman, Kalmia Club
The Kalmia Club’s fundraiser, Nightclub at the Riverside, held on March 20h to benefit the club’s ongoing programs and the annual scholarship program for South Hunterdon Regional High School, sold out again this year!
Many thanks to the amazing committee that made it all come together — Jena Dillon, Naomi Drew, Suzanne Gitomer, Carol Heffler, Beverly Kershaw, Leigh McKay, Mila Montemayer and Maryann Ransom. There isn’t a more extraordinary group of women anywhere and I was honored to have had each of them involved in this effort.
There would have been no event if it hadn’t been for the talent and dedication of the musicians who made the evening one long celebration. Special thanks to Bill Kershaw for all his hard work in organizing the music for the evening and to Steve Antos, Art Banker, Jason Bonthron, Shaun Ellis, John Houpert, Tom Larkin, Tim McKenzie, Pat McSherry, John Sonntag, Misha Sumichrast and Bill Linderman, who graciously doubled as our MC. You kept the dance floor packed and encouraged a record breaking night of donations!
I am grateful to the Inn at Lambertville Station for giving us such a beautiful place to hold our event and Marielle Wolf, in particular, for being such a dream to work with!
The silent auction exceeded our wildest expectations and was possible only because of the donations from the following artists/galleries: Myles Cavanaugh, Dory Coffee, Polly Dorman, Gordon Haas, Judy Henn, Hrefna Jonsdottir, Tony LaSalle and Colette Sexton. Thank you!
I want to thank Fiddleheads for giving us the most beautiful flower arrangements that ever graced a tabletop. Thank you to Baker’s Treat for the delicious deserts. Thank you to all the members of the business community who supported our event by taking ads in the program. You make this community what it is! Thank you to all the members of Kalmia, who sold tickets, took ads in the program, baked an astounding number of fabulous deserts and supported this event once again. Thank you to the co-presidents, Johanna Cushing and Karen Todd for their support.
This event had an amazing number of donors but note must be taken of the gifts from Scott and Kimberly Scammell, Janice and Jeffrey Kolmer and Bill Dorman. Thank you for your generosity. Bill Dorman donated the proceeds of the sale of his late wife Polly’s artwork to the benefit as well as one of her paintings for the silent auction. Polly was a long time Kalmia member, an amazing gardener and a talented painter. Kalmia will be giving a scholarship this year in her honor.
On behalf of the Kalmia Club, thanks to everyone who participated in and supported this year’s Nightclub.
