Dress for Success Mercer County Creates Mother’s Day Cards Featuring Original Painting by Local Artist
PRINCETON, N.J. (April 1)— Befitting an organization that is about helping women, the newly formed Dress for Success Mercer County organization is kicking off its first annual fundraising appeal around a holiday that celebrates women: Mother’s Day. The group is creating Mother’s Day cards featuring a painting generously donated by Lambertville-based artist Tony LaSalle. Graphic support was provided by Renvatio Healthcare Communications in Newton, PA, and printing costs were donated by Bank of Princeton and Roundview Capital of Princeton, NJ. All donations for the Mother’s Day cards will support operations of the nonprofit group based in Hamilton, NJ, and serving women of the greater Trenton area.
Cards will be sold for a minimum donation of $20 each. Details on how to make donations and get cards can be found on the website at www.dressforsuccess.org/mercercounty.
Ellen Hackman, a founding board member spearheading the initiative, says, “We buy cards each year to celebrate the mothers in our lives. For just a few dollars more, this beautiful card featuring original artwork comes with the gift of economic independence for women needing help from those more fortunate. Dress for Success Mercer County is helping women, most of whom are mothers, provide for their families.” More
Dress for Success promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Dress for Success serves women of all ethnicities and races, many of whom are living below the poverty level and have several children. These women are referred to Dress for Success by nonprofit organizations such as domestic violence agencies, homeless shelters and job-training programs. Dress for Success has suited more than 450,000 women for their job interviews since it was founded in 1997. The organization provides one week’s worth of business appropriate separates if the participant gets the job. It also offers networking opportunities and career developments tools to help women gain economic independence.
