WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 29, 2009) — Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), the nation’s largest bipartisan women’s business group, announced today Forough Ghahramani, Founder of Life Sciences Computing, LLC, has been named to WIPP’s Executive Advisory Board
“We are proud to add Forough Ghahramani to our executive advisory board, as Co-Chair of the Strategic Alliances Council” said WIPP President and Co-founder Barbara Kasoff. “As a strong business leader in the national women’s business community, Forough understands and exemplifies the importance in engaging women business owners in the political and public policy process and knows how legislation can impact a company’s bottom line and ability to grow.”
As a member of WIPP’s Executive Advisory Board, Forough Ghahramani will provide strategic counsel on strengthening the impact of women business owners at the federal legislative and executive levels, bring her unique perspective on top economic growth concerns to our nation’s political leaders and activate this quickly-growing demographic.

She is also Dean of Business Technology Programs and director of Electroneurodiagnostic Technology Program at DeVry University North Brunswick, New Jersey.  Prior to her current role, she was department chair of Biomedical Informatics and Computer Information Systems at DeVry University, Pennsylvania. Forough has more than twenty-five years diversified experience in higher education, technology, and management. Her industry career experience includes management consulting, technical sales, engineering management, technical marketing management, and systems architecture consulting at Hewlett Packard, Compaq Computer Corporation, and Digital Equipment Corporation.
Forough’s education includes a Master of Business Administration from DePaul University, Master of Computer Science from Villanova University, and Bachelor of Science in Mathematics with a minor in Biology from Pennsylvania State University.
Forough is a respected leader in recruitment and retention of women in the science, engineering, and technology and is consulted on the local, state, and national levels with regard to workforce development strategies. Her many accomplishments include publication of articles in technical journals presented at local, national, and international conferences. For her contributions and advocacy for the future generation of women leaders in science, engineering, and technology, she received the Euro-American Women’s Council’s Artemis award and has been inducted into the EAWC Women’s Hall of Fame.   She serves on the boards of companies and non-profit organizations. Forough is a member of the Alumni Board of Pennsylvania State University’s Eberly College of Science, a board member of Society of Women Engineer’s Public Policy Committee, Global Executive Advisory Board member of the Euro-American Women’s Council, a member of the New Jersey Council on Gender Parity in Labor and Education’s Committee on Science and Technology Workforce, and a member of the New Jersey Workforce Innovation in Regional Economic Development (WIRED) Bio-1 Biosciences Committee. Forough Ghahramani is one of the thought leaders from across the nation selected to contribute to The Roadmap to 2020, a strategic action plan to fuel the growth of women’s enterprise development in the US over the coming decade.
“I am honored to help lead WIPP as an executive advisory board member,” said Forough Ghahramani. “In today’s quickly-changing business environment, it is increasingly important that the nation’s 10.1 million women entrepreneurs have a role in the political process. I look forward to working with WIPP to ensure that voices of women small business owners are heard by those in public office.”
Since its founding in 2001, WIPP members have testified at numerous Congressional committee hearings on issues that affect the growth of women-owned businesses, particularly access to capital, tax reform, affordable healthcare, and federal contracting opportunities. Also, WIPP members frequently participate in roundtable discussions conducted by the Administration on the economic impact of public policies on business. In September, 2008, WIPP published the Economic Blueprint, the Women Business Owners’ Platform for Growth   a bold, comprehensive set of public policy expectations on behalf of the women business owner community. It represents our voice and interests regarding the pressing business challenges that require actions by our elected officials.
“Now that women have ownership in nearly half of all private companies and are growing faster than any other business demographic, the impact of women entrepreneurs on the political landscape is formidable. With involved business owners like Forough on our executive advisory board, WIPP is leading the way to ensure women’s voices are heard in the halls of Congress, the White House and federal agencies," said Kasoff.
