   Friday, Sept. 11
   Golf outing: The Monroe Wolverines will hold its third annual golf outing at the Concordia Golf Course. Co-sponsor a hole for $100. All proceeds to go the Monroe Wolverines football and cheer programs.
Saturday, Sept. 12
   The Cranbury 5K: After a hiatus of a few years, the 5K run will once again be part of Cranbury Day tradition. The race, which will begin in front of the Methodist Church located at 21 N. Main St., will start at 9 a.m. Proceeds from the race will benefit the Helene Cody Foundation, which seeks to inspire youth to volunteer, to better their communities and themselves. If you are not a runner, please participate by walking the course. By doing so, you will support a worthy cause. Should you have any questions, please call Win or Linda Cody at 609-655-1770. The course, which is USATF certified, will proceed through shaded, beautiful Cranbury. Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age group. The categories are 14 and under, with five year intervals thereafter. The entrance fee is $20 for all applications postmarked on or before Sept. 4. The entrance fee for applications received or postmarked after Sept. 4 will be $25 up to race time. All participants will receive T-shirts. Applications are available at www.RaceForum.com/Cranbury.    Family Camp out: Fourth Annual Cranbury Township family camp out to be held at village park. Kick off is at 5 p.m. There will be inflatable rides for the kids while you prepare your campsite. Once everyone is settled in we will have a campfire followed by a movie in the park before we turn off the lights. Dinner will be available for purchase. The next morning, enjoy a free continental breakfast before packing up your gear. Tent and sleeping bags are available for purchase and rental on a limited basis at Eastern Mountain Sports located at Princeton Marketfair Mall (call ahead to confirm availability – phone 609-520-8310). Cost per 20-foot by 20-foot campsite is $40. There is a limit of six people per campsite. Pets are not permitted at this event.    Vendor Day: The Italian American Club of Renaissance at Cranbury Crossing is sponsoring a Vendor Day from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Renaissance at Cranbury Crossing Clubhouse, 48 Vineyard Court, Monroe, with proceeds to benefit The Ronald McDonald House. Bring the family to shop and taste a little bit of Italy (buffet and dessert station), cake sale, kiddy craft station and raffles.
   Yard Sale: St. David’s Episcopal Church, Cranbury, will hold three fund raisers on Cranbury Day: its Annual Yard Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Youth Group’s Car Wash 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m., at the church, 90 S. Main St. St. David’s will also host its traditional Baked Goods table downtown on Cranbury Day. For more information, call 609-655-4731.
   Craft Fair, Tricky Tray and Bake Sale: Sponsored by the St. Vincent de Paul Society at the Nativity of Our Lord Church, 185 Applegarth Road, Monroe. To be held Saturday, Sept. 12 from 2 to 4 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 13, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The proceeds will be used to help families in the community.    Country Fair: The Mother’s Club will hold the Country Fair festival from noon to 6 p.m. in Thompson Park.
   Spanish Dance: The Monroe Township Cultural Arts Commission proudly presents the Alborada Spanish Dance Theatre’s newest production, “ The Journey – Exploring the Origins of Flamenco” at 3 p.m. in the Richard P. Marasco Theatre for the Performing Arts, 1629 Perrineville Road, Monroe. The production traces the journey of the Gypsies from India through Egypt and into Andalucia and the exchanges and influences that took place 1200 years ago. The concert pays tribute to the dances of India, including the Gypsy dances of Northern India plus the Middle Eastern influences with dances from Egypt. Featured will be music compositions from Egypt, India and Spain. This exciting and uplifting program will explore the cross-cultural aspects of Spain’s rich history and culture. Tickets will be available one month in advance of the performance at the Monroe Township Senior Center, One Municipal Plaza, the Monroe Township Community Center, 120 Monmouth Road and at the door two hours before the performance.    Peace Action: Jacqueline Shire, senior analyst at The Institute For Science and International Security will speak at the next Coalition For Peace Action of Monroe Township meeting at 10 a.m. at the Monroe Township municipal building. Thursday, Sept. 17
   Golf outing: St. David’s Episcopal Church, 90 South Main Street, Cranbury, invites golfers and sponsors to its 2009 Summer Golf Outing at Gambler Ridge Golf Club, Cream Ridge. The program starts with registration at 10:30 a.m. followed by lunch at 11 a.m., the Scramble Tournament at 12.30 p.m., and awards and dinner at 5 p.m. Space is limited so early registration, by Friday, Aug. 28, is recommended. Fees at $125 for individuals, $450 for foursomes, include greens fee, cart, lunch, dinner, golf course refreshment, prizes and awards.    Tea time: The Friends of the Monroe Township Library invites current members to its annual Membership Tea from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Live music will be performed by pianist Bill Woolman and refreshments will be served. Saturday, Sept. 26
   Candlelight Concert: The Cranbury Arts Council will host its ninth Annual Candlelight Concert, and their first ever music festival in Village Park. The festival will begin in the early to mid-afternoon and will continue into the evening.
   Thompson Park 5K: Online and mail-in registration has begun for the third annual Friends and Neighbors in Action 5K Race and Fun Walk, organized by Friends and Neighbors in Action and sponsored by NACCME, LLC. All net proceeds from the event will go to children and families suffering from Childhood Cancers. Race will take place in Thompson Park. The 5K race and fun walk will begin with registration at 9 a.m. The 5K course will take runners through the park, while the fun walk is approximately a 1-mile loop near the lakefront area. An awards ceremony for top finishers in the 5K race will take place immediately following the conclusion of the race.
