BORDENTOWN: Carthan wins Patriot Division shot put

    The Bordentown High School girls track team placed third in the Patriot Division meet on Saturday.
    Alicia Carthan won the shot put (35’ 10”). Breanna Hudik was second (118’ 10”) and Kelly Yanucil third (104’ 9”) in the javelin. Melanie Hazlett was second in the 100 hurdles (17.2) and third in the 400 hurdles (1:12.93). Jacqueline Ansong was fifth in the 100 (14.24). Rachel Alm was fifth in the 400 (1:05.9). Melanie Hazlett was third in the triple jump (32’ 6 ¾”). Melissa Yanucil was third in the high jump (4’ 6”) and fourth in the long jump (14’ 9 ½”). Lauren Hazlett was fourth in the high jump (4’ 6”).
    BASEBALL
    The Bordentown High School baseball team edged Cinnaminson, 2-1, on Tuesday, May 4.
    Tommy Potts tossed a complete game, allowing just four hits. Potts didn’t walk anyone and he had eight strikeouts.
    Bordentown had taken a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth. Cinnaminson tied the game in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, Scott Gorish drove home Gunnar Decker with the winning run.
    Tommy Potts added two hits and a run scored. Scott Gorish (hit) and Taylor Zackman had a RBI each.
    Bordentown defeated Westampton Tech, 19-1, on Monday.
    Justin Ely had a double, triple, homer and RBI. Tommy Potts moved his record to 5-2 with a complete game 1-hitter. He had 12 strikeouts.
    Bordentown was edged Delran, 9-8, on Thursday.
    BOYS TRACK
    The Bordentown High School boys track team placed fourth while competing in the Patriot Division meet on Saturday.
    Zachary Burgher placed second in the 800 (2:08.68). Bryce Silver placed fifth in the discus (115’ 7”).
    The Bordentown High School boys track was defeated by Delran, 100-40.
    SOFTBALL
    The Bordentown High School softball was edged by Florence, 3-2, on Tuesday, May 4.
    Bordentown defeated Willingboro, 2-1, on Wednesday, May 4.
