The Redbird Ramble 5K and Youth races will take place March 26 at Allentown High School. Proceeds will benefit the Allentown High School Athletics Water Our Fields Fund. The 5K race will begin at 9 a.m., with the youth races (age 10 and under, 50-450 yards) scheduled for 10 a.m. The fee for the 5K is $15 (includes T-shirt) if registered by March 20; after March 20 the fee is $18 (T-shirts as supply lasts). The fee for the youth race is $5 (includes T-shirt). Awards will include merchandise prizes to first-place through third-place winners, overall male/female, and three deep in each of the following categories: age 10 and under; 11-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; and 70 and above.
Millstone women to sponsor casino night The Millstone Township Women’s Organization will sponsor its annual Casino Night fund-raiser March 25 at the American Hotel, Freehold. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for a buffet dinner, with gambling from 7:30-11 p.m. and a gift auction to follow. Tickets are $25 per person, which includes dinner and $25 in chips. Local students earn honors in contest The International Association of Lions Clubs Multiple District 16-B has announced the winners of its Peace Poster Contest, and they include two local students. Third-place honors went to Lane Zhovtaya, who attends eighth grade at the Solomon Schechter Academy, Howell. Lane earned a $50 savings bond and was sponsored by the Howell Lions Club. Kim Welle of Upper Freehold Town-ship was among the students who received honorable mention. Kim was sponsored by the Allentown Lions Club. Riding club season to open on March 26 The Garden State Horse and Carriage Society will hold its first event of the year, "Poker Playing Fun Ride and Drive," from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 26 at Lebanon State Forest. Riders/drivers will pick up playing cards at various locations on the trail and the best hand wins. The trail consists of 6 to 7 miles of lightly traveled dirt roads. Starting times will be assigned. Program will focus on child car seat safety "Infant and Child Car Seat Safety," a Gold Award project presented by third-year senior Cadette Girl Scout Jacquelyn Stewart, will be held from noon to 1 p.m. March 11 in the Millstone Township Middle School cafetorium. There will be a brief presentation and short video on the importance of car seat safety, and a qualified representative will be available to answer any questions.
