The Lawrence High field hockey team recently scored one of its biggest victories of the school year for any Cardinal team, when it participated in Lawrence Township’s "Relay for Life" and raised over $1,500 to help in the fight against cancer.
The event drew over 600 participants who raised ove $60,000.
"I was very proud of the turnout from our team and the Lawrence community and how eager they were to help with this great cause," said Cardinals head coach Carlee Cimorelli. "The continued support we got from our field hockey parents was amazing and as always greatly appreciated."
Aside from walking from 6:30 to 9 p.m. to raise money, the Cardinals also bought Luminaria bags in support those who have beaten cancer. Lawrence bought seven bags in memory of coach Megan Cardwell’s dad, who passed away.
