A Hoboken man was charged with carelessly driving a Mack truck Tuesday, Aug 31. Police responded to reports of a turned over tractor-trailer on the southbound side of Route 130 at the New Jersey Turnpike off ramp. Upon arrival, police determined that the driver was exiting the turnpike and lost control of his vehicle, which caused it to turn over onto its side. The vehicle then slide across the southbound lanes before finally coming to a rest against the center guardrail. The driver, Jesus Cardova, was able to exit the vehicle uninjured and without help.
Rt. 130 southbound and the turnpike off ramp were both closed for approximately two hours while police conducted their investigation and the truck was removed. ***
A woman was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, driving while intoxicated, speeding, possession of controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, and consumption of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle at 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1. The woman, Andrea E. Simms, of Burlington, was stopped by police for a motor vehicle offense. After an investigation, Ms. Simms was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated and possessing a controlled dangerous substance in the vehicle.
Ms. Simms was transported to police headquarters and charged before being released on her own recognizance pending a court appearance.
Mansfield
A Bordentown resident is charged with robbing an unspecified amount of money from a victim at the Pine Motel on Thursday, Aug. 26. Police were dispatched to the motel the following day and met the victim, who stated that the suspect, later identified as Steven Farrell, had come into his room, threatened him with a pair of scissors and stole money from his wallet.
Mansfield Township Municipal Court Judge Dennis McInerney set Mr. Farrell’s bail at $50,000. Anyone with information pertaining to the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to contact Mansfield Township police at (609) 298-4411.
