Strong summer for Peddie swimmers

The Peddie Aquatics Association had 24 swimmers qualify for New Jersey Swimming’s Junior Olympics in New Brunswick. They earned 39 top-eight finishes and 15 top-three finishes.
Competing among 13/14-year-old swimmers, Hightstown’s Scott Vitabile placed second in the 200 free (2:05.09) and third in both the 100 free (57.90) and the 200 fly (2:21.69).
In the 11/12 age group, West Windsor’s Roman Horoszewski had a first-place finish in both the 800 free (9:45.62) and the 1500 free (19:01.47), took second in the 100 free (1:03.27) and third in the 200 free (2:15.83). East Windsor’s Aldair Rozo placed second in the 50 back (33.44) and 100 back (1:12.69) and finished third in the 50 fly (31.71). Brianna Romaine of Cranbury placed third in the 50 free (29.52). Peddie’s 11/12 boys 200 free relay team of Roman Horoszewski, Robbie Kahrs (East Windsor), Alexander Petruso (Cranbury), and Aldair Rozo placed second (2:02.27).
Among 10 and under swimmers, East Windsor’s Michael Blank finished second in the 50 free (32.88) and Noah Houskeeper of North Brunswick finished third in the 100 fly (1:25.58).
Seven swimmers from Peddie Aquatics Association qualified to swim for the New Jersey Swimming team at the recent Eastern Zone Long Course Age Group Championship in Rockville, Maryland.
The Eastern Zone is one of four in USA Swimming. Swimmers qualify for the championship by meeting qualifying times during the long course season. The Peddie swimmers raced to six final eight finishes at the meet against swimmers hailing from Virginia through Maine.
In the 13/14 age group were Hightstown’s Scott Vitabile and West Windsor’s Rabia Syed. Vitabile placed seventh in the 400 free (4:24.70).
The 11/12 swimmers from Peddie were Brianna Romaine of Cranbury, Roman Horoszewski of West Windsor, and Aldair Rozo of East Windsor. Romaine finished third in the 100 free (1:02.13), fourth in the 200 free (2:13.22), and sixth in both the 50 free (29.11) and 200 free (2:28.73). Horoszewski placed eighth in the 400 free (4:45.52).
In the 10 and under age group, Peddie was represented by East Windsor’s Michael Blank and North Brunswick’s Noah Houskeeper.
Peddie Aquatics Association is a year-round senior and age-group level swim program which holds membership with the USA Swimming Organization. PAA offers professional coaching and technique instruction to the competitive swimmer and is committed to personal development within the team’s structure. The team consists of approximately 170 athletes ranging in age from 5 years old to seniors in high school. PAA is going into its 17th season since its revival in 1993.
