West Orange, NJ, September 22, 2010:  In the latest Ear on Careers podcast, produced by Top-Tier Tutoring, Dr. Rose Frasco provides excellent information and guidance to those who are interested in a career as an optometrist.  To access this podcast, go to www.bit.ly/9Rc0cI.
In this podcast, Dr. Frasco, an eye doctor with the Liva Eye Center in Paramus, New Jersey, discusses her path to becoming an optometrist.  Dr. Frasco graduated from Siena College in Albany, knowing that she wanted to become an optometrist.  However, life took an unexpected turn in the form of a car accident during college.  In order to graduate with her class, she changed her major to English, with a biology minor.  After attending Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey to take prerequisite classes for optometry school, Dr. Frasco graduated from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with a Doctorate of Optometry degree.  Dr. Frasco’s optometric internships were completed at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware and at Seidenberg Protzko Eye Associates, in Havre de Grace, Maryland, an affiliate of Johns Hopkins Medical Center.
During the podcast, Dr. Frasco shares a “typical” day for her in the office consisting of helping patients with all types of vision issues, from routine check-ups to contact lens fittings, glaucoma, dry eye, diabetes and other conditions.  Listen as Dr. Frasco discusses a “war story” involving a 4-year old flower girl, as well as her surprises in the field.  Dr. Frasco also provides excellent tips and recommendations for those listeners considering a career as an optometrist, and gives an overview of the three fields that deal with the eye:  optician, optometrist and ophthalmologist.
“I was unaware of just how powerful an optometrist is as a diagnostician for your entire body,” states Rhonda Rivera, co-founder of Top-Tier Tutoring and a host of Ear on Careers.  She continues, “Dr. Frasco not only treats and corrects vision problems but, as an optometrist, also identifies other potential problems at an early stage.  Clearly, the field of optometry is much more complex than a simple eye test, and Dr. Frasco provides wonderful advice for people contemplating a career in her field.”
