WEST WINDSOR: Man charged in assault of police officer

WEST WINDSOR — A 42-year-old New York man has been charged with several offenses after police said he tried to punch a police officer.
Daniel J. Saggese, 42, of Rocky Point, N.Y., was charged Sept. 13 with aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and defiant trespass. Police said they saw him on the grounds of General Growth Properties, a location at Quakerbridge and Clarksville roads with “no trespassing” signs, at 4:49 p.m. and knew there had been several burglaries on the property.
Police said they approached Mr. Saggese, who ran away, and once they caught up with Mr. Saggese, he tried to strike the officer with a closed fist. Police said the officer gained control and arrested Mr. Saggese, who was sent to the Mercer County Corrections Center in lieu of $4,500 bail.
