Library seeks help catching ‘book thief’ on Cranbury Day
By Natalia Knochowski, Staff Writer
CRANBURY — Wanted: super sleuths for Saturday’s Cranbury Day to help the Cranbury Library catch its elusive Mystery Thief!
If residents are unfamiliar, then they may want to check out the library’s website where there is an entire page, entitled “What Happened to Wellington,” dedicated to the mysterious events involving the thief.
According to the special page, a shipment of books was strangely stolen from the library on Aug. 18. Then days later, a ransom note of cutout and mismatched magazine letters was found in an envelope in the library’s book drop.
It stated that the library has to wait to get the books back. It was signed by The Mystery Thief.
On Sept. 1, another puzzling message, also created with cutouts of letters, arrived at the library. This one mentioned Cranbury Day.
So now the library is onto something and thinks that Saturday is the day when the mystery will be solved and it will finally get its books back.
The library just needs some assistance from the community!
”They just have to stop by our table and ask how they can help out,” Library Director Marilynn Mullen said.
Then after taking a shot with their detective skills, visitors can also enjoy the various musical, sports and dance performances, as well as other activities, that are scheduled throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Helene Cody 5K run, however, will begin at 9 a.m.
There will also be a merchant sidewalk sale and food available from a variety of Cranbury restaurants.
All events will be located on North Main Street between Scott Avenue and Westminster Place.
