After months of panting in anticipation, local pups are finally getting their day in the limelight.
The sixth Dog Days of Lambertville 2011 calendar, a community institution, has arrived in local shops.
The calendar’s canine photos and tales are as charming – and in some cases as moving – as always. All profits from the sale of the calendars will be donated to local animal charities.
Among the 59 canine characters in this year’s calendar are: Felix McGillicuddy, a 9-year-old Portuguese Water Dog and reformed BBQ butter thief; Patrick, a soft-coated Wheaten who can make it from couch to lamb chop in milliseconds; and Sophie, a Standard Poodle and yogini, who demonstrates poses in her owner’s yoga class.
The calendar also features local canine muses presenting their owners’ artwork and creative accomplishments. The artists highlighted are painters, jewelry designers and interior designers. They represent a true cross section of talent in the Lambertville area.
November pinups Bart and Sadie, for example, are featured along with a painting by Lambertville artist, Annelies van Dommelen, who designed the 2010 Shadfest poster and T-shirt.
The calendar is available for purchase at the following establishments for $12. In Lambertville: Rojo’s, Sojourner, Blue Raccoon, Tirpok Cleaners, Homestead Farm Market, Lambertville Animal Clinic, Picky Paws, Hamilton Grill; and Stockton: Heads Up; and in New Hope: New Hope Pet Center. Calendars also may be purchased online at http://lambertvilledogs.com/ for $15, which includes shipping and handling.
All profits from the sale of the calendars are donated to Animal Alliance, the Hunterdon Humane Animal Shelter and Make Peace with Animals.
