N.J. Horse Park to host driving event
The Garden State Horse and Carriage Society will hold its eighth annual Combined Driving Event from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 13-14 at the New Jersey Horse Park, Route 524, Upper Freehold.
Events will include driven dressage, which tests the obedience of the horse and the accuracy of the driver; an obstacle course, often referred to as "cones," where meticulous accuracy is required; and a cross-country marathon, which tests stamina, courage and agility. There will also be vendors, antiques, gifts, crafts, art, clothing, food and more.

Nursery school now accepting applications
The Roosevelt Community Nursery School is currently accepting applications for the fall session. The school offers classes Monday through Thursday from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and, depending on enrollment, may be able to offer Fridays in the fall. Safety course to teach canoeing, kayaking
"Canoe and Kayak," a course sponsored by Millstone Township Community Education, will be held in May. The class will provide basic canoe or kayak training in two one-hour sessions.
Session one will be classroom instruction, including safety equipment, basic strokes and boat rescue. Session two will take place on the water at Assunpink Lake. Instruction and equipment will be provided by Paint Island Canoe and Kayak, Bordentown. The classroom session will be held on May 15 or May 16. The lake session will be determined later.

Riding club to host event in Allentown
The Handicapped High Riders Club at Riding High Farm, Allentown, will host a Family and Friends Day from noon to 4 p.m. June 4, rain or shine. Admission is free. The event will provide an opportunity for families to learn more about the program, and will offer demonstrations, pony and carriage rides, kite flying, music, games and more. There will also be a chance auction drawing for children and adults at 3 p.m.
