MONTGOMERY — Republicans Ed Trzaska and Patricia Graham have won both open seats on the Township Committee. In a close race, Mr. Trzaska and Ms. Graham defeated Democrats Louise Wilson and Neena Singh on Tuesday night.
According to the township’s unofficial results, Mr Trzaska received 3,564 votes, Ms. Graham received 3,514, Ms. Wilson received 3,386 and Ms. Singh received 3,237. According to the township clerk’s office, 6,510 people voted out of 14,275 registered voters.
”I’m so excited — all the hard work that went into this whole campaign,” Mr. Trzaska said, minutes after hearing the news. “We campaigned aggressively on the issues that matter most and I’m looking forward to helping out Mayor Caliguire make our government more efficient.”
Mr. Trzaska and Ms. Graham joined friends and family at the Princeton Elks Lodge at Montgomery to celebrate.
”It feels great because the voters have placed their trust in us and we’re ready to start doing what we said we’d do,” Ms. Graham said. “We’re ready to hold the line on taxes, reduce our debt and cut spending. We’re thrilled to have won the election; now let’s roll up our sleeves and get to work.”
Mayor Caliguire attended the celebration to show his support for the two winners.
”Ed and Pat will be a great addition,” he said. “They believe, as I do, in spending wisely, keeping taxes low, and at the end of the day, not taking any more money from Montgomery residents than we need to.”
