The Mercer County Board of Chosen Freeholders is taking one of its regularly scheduled meetings on the road.
Board Chair Ann Cannon has announced that the board will hold its Dec. 9 formal meeting in Princeton Borough. The meeting will take place at the Princeton Borough Hall, 1 Monument Drive. Local public officials have been invited to attend.
In an effort to increase public awareness and participation in county government, the freeholders have made it a practice in recent years to hold meetings in area municipalities.
”Taking our meetings on the road gives citizens greater access to the board,” said Chairwoman Cannon, “and it gives the Freeholder board a chance to get closer to the community.”
In addition to the formal business of the county, on Thursday evening the freeholders will recognize the recent reforestation project at the Ted Stiles Preserve on Baldpate Mountain. The Park Commission will provide a brief presentation of the project and representatives from businesses and organizations who volunteered to complete the project have been invited to receive certificates of appreciation on behalf of their organizations.
Freeholder board meetings are normally held at the Mercer County Administration Building, 640 South Broad St., Trenton, the county seat. Meeting dates may be found on the board’s web site at http://nj.gov/counties/mercer/officials/freeholders/about/what.html.
