MONROE – A Manalapan man was charged with attempted murder and arson in connection with a fire to a building and truck Nov. 26.
Martin E. Hroncich, 23, of Pinebrook Road, was charged Monday with four cunts of attempted murder, aggravated arson, arson, criminal mischief and stalking.
Police said that at 3:39 a.m. Nov. 26, police, fire and EMS went to 113 Belluscio St. on a report of a structure and vehicle fire. The fire had been extinguished by the homeowner by the time emergency personnel arrived.
The homeowner woke up, alerted occupants, then extinguished the fire outside with a garden hose, police said. Everyone escaped without injury, but there was significant damage to the exterior of the residence, police said.
A Chevy S-10 pickup truck parked outside the residence also was damaged by fire, police said, and the fire was deemed suspicious.
It was investigated by Detective Jason Grosser of the Monroe Township Police Department Detective Bureau.
Mr. Hroncich was taken to the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $125,000.00 bail for the aggravated arson and arson charges. Bail has yet to be determined by a Superior Court judge on the attempted murder charges.
