A narcotics investigation on Jan. 6 led to the arrest of two Somerset County residents at Central Jersey Airport on Millstone River Road.
Members of the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Organized Crime and Narcotics Task Force were conducting the investigation and received information that Lance Chillemi, 23, of Bound Brook, would be in possession of marijuana, according to a press release from the Somerset County prosecutor’s office.
At approximately 6 p.m., task force members saw Mr. Chillemi arrive at the airport in a blue Volvo driven by Kelsey Vlachos, 21, of Bridgewater.
Detectives with the task force, along with Hillsborough police officers, approached the vehicle and, after questioning, Mr. Chillemi voluntarily surrendered about 4 ounces of marijuana, the release stated. Ms. Vlachos then voluntarily turned over 20 ecstasy pills and three oxycodone pills, according to the release. Detectives also discovered a plastic bag in the vehicle containing under 50 grams of marijuana, according to the release.
Mr. Chillemi was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute for the marijuana and possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, a disorderly persons offense.
Ms. Vlachos was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute for the ecstasy and third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance for the oxycodone.
According to the report, both were released on their own recognizance.
Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano said in the release that the estimated street value of the marijuana is $2,000, the approximate street value of the ecstasy pills is $500 and the approximate street value of the oxycodone pills is $90.
