Calhoun J. Killeen Jr., with more than 30 years of experience in community journalism, has been named editor of the Princeton Packet.
Mr. Killeen was editor of the Daily News of Newburyport, Mass., for 20 years. During that time the paper was named New England Newspaper of the Year in its circulation category three times by the New England Newspaper Association. The paper also won public service reporting awards from both the Associated Press and United Press International.
He also spent time working on copy desks at the Boston Globe at two separated times. Most recently he spent several years with Seacoast Media Group, a member of the Dow Jones Local Media Group in Portsmouth, N,H., where he held the positions of editor of Seacoast Sunday, the Sunday publication of three papers in the group, and editor of the Hampton Union, a twice weekly paper.

In addition to his work experience, Mr. Killeen also served on the board of directors of the New England Press Association and has been a consultant for the American Press Institute, evaluating small and medium-sized daily newspapers.
He is a former member of the American Society of Newspapers Editors and the New England Society of Newspaper Editors.
He grew up in the family of a career Marine Corps officer and lived in several states on both coasts as well as abroad.
Mr. Killeen is married and has two daughters, one a sophomore at the College of the Holy Cross, and one who will be entering George Washington University in the fall.
