PRINCETON AREA: EnviRUNment 5K to take place April 16 to support clean water cause

Get active and help protect your water and environment at the third annual Greening Princeton EnviRUNment 5K!
Join Greening Princeton, a student environmental group at Princeton University, and the Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association, central New Jersey’s first environmental group, on Saturday, April 16, for this fun fundraising event. Runners, joggers and walkers are welcome.
Gather at the start/finish area at Forbes College on the university campus (corner of University Place and Alexander Street) for registration and check-in starting at 8 a.m. The run/walk kicks off at 9 a.m. Enjoy a relatively flat, fast 3.1-mile up-and-back course that traverses Alexander Street along the university campus and the scenic Delaware & Raritan Canal towpath.
Prizes from Mezzaluna, Princeton Running Company, Princeton Record Exchange, and more, will be awarded to top finishers. All participants will receive complimentary reusable Princeton University Nalgene water bottles.
To register in advance for the discount fee of just $10, visit www.princeton.edu/ greening. Registration will be available on race day for $15. All event proceeds benefit the Watershed Association and help protect central New Jersey’s water and environment.
“Greening Princeton is proud to partner with the Watershed Association,” said Elektra Alivisatos, an EnvirRUNment 5K event organizer and freshman at Princeton University. “They’re hard work and determination out in the community helps keep our region’s water and environment going strong.”
“Events like the EnviRUNment 5K are critical to our mission,” added Jim Waltman, Watershed Association executive director. “Our treasured environmental resources, like the Delaware & Raritan Canal along the race course — a drinking water source to tens of thousands in our region — need our constant vigilance and protection. Help us make a difference and reach our goal of more than 100 participants at the 5K this year.”
