DONATE YOUR USED BICYCLE FOR A GREAT CAUSE!

By Metta Cahill
Remove the clutter from your garage along with the guilt that comes from staring at an un-used bike!
On Sunday May 1st, the Boys & Girls Club of Trenton & Mercer County’s Bike Exchange will accept used
kids and adult bikes at Lawrenceville Main Street’s 13th Annual Jubilee. The fun-filled event begins at noon and ends at 5 pm and will be held at Village Park at Gordon and Phillips Avenue.
Volunteers will provide a tax-donation receipt form in exchange for your bike, and load the bike onto a truck. Its destination will be our shop in the Capitol Plaza Shopping Center on Olden Avenue in Ewing. There, volunteer bike mechanics will recondition it and sell it at bargain prices to area residents.
100% of the proceeds from the bike sales will support after-school and career development
programs of the Boys and Girls Club of Trenton & Mercer County, which serve over 1,000 under-privileged
kids per week. The donated money pays for food, supplies, field trips, and staff to run them.
The Bike Exchange has just begun its third season. Last year, the group’s success netted $100,000 for the Boys and Girls Club, and saved 2300 bikes from landfills.
Be a part of this project! Extend the life of your bike, and get kids and their families who might not ever have gotten bikes out riding. A big win for all involved!
