Dress for Success
Dress for Success Mercer County is excited to host its first 5K Power Walk fundraiser on
Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Bank of America/Merrill Lynch campus in Hopewell, NJ. Our 5k Power
Walk will promote the Health & Wellness initiative of the Professional Women’s Group and also raise
funds and visibility for Dress for Success Mercer County!
Jillian Michaels, the celebrity trainer from The Biggest Loser, is the national spokesperson for the event
and Mercer County is honored to have Brett Hoebel, Princeton-native and the newest Trainer on The
Biggest Loser, attending our event and conducting a warm-up session to kick off our Power Walk. We
also are excited to have several past season contestants from The Biggest Loser walking with us!
Registration for the Power Walk is $25 for individual & virtual walkers, to register please visit our website
at www.dfspowerwalk.org/mercercounty. Team and Sponsorship opportunities are also available. Local
Sponsors include Kaplan EduNeering, Stark & Stark, and Reigel Printing Company.
Dress for Success Mercer County (DFSMC) was founded in 2007 to promote the economic
independence of disadvantaged women of Mercer County by providing professional attire, a network of
support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. DFSMC is a member
of Dress for Success Worldwide, which was founded in 1996 in New York City. Dress for Success
Worldwide currently has 106 affiliates in nine countries. Thirty-three of our affiliates will also be hosting
Powerwalks on May 7, 2011 in their local communities with worldwide sponsors Shape Magazine and
the Style Network.
Participating in our Power Walk will help raise funds and awareness for our Mercer County chapter by
supporting our career development and employment retention programs including our Professional
Women’s Group program and the Career Corner which offers career guidance, technology skills and job
search support. In 2008, DFSMC launched its Professional Women’s Group (PWG), a client support
group that promotes self-sufficiency by helping low-income women build careers, thereby enabling them
to become viable consumers and steadfast anchors in their communities and families. PWG holds
monthly meetings where clients share, grow and network with other women who are seeking to transition
into the workforce. Workshop topics have included Professional Image, Networking, The Art of
Interviewing, Health and Wellness, Managing Your Time, Self Esteem Building, Parenting and Nutrition.
The workshops have been led by guest presenters from local corporations and agencies.
Please help support our organization so that DFSMC can continue to help the women of Mercer County!
