The sunshine was a surprise; it’s been so rainy and murky. Mother Nature has a way of evening things out and she has opened the doors summer with a bang. Suddenly the roses are blooming.

On Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to noon or longer, the mah jongg players are in our senior room. I see these players bring a fine spread of goodies to keep up their strength.
Need transportation? Know that the Hillsborough bus service for seniors is there. Call 908-369-3880.
For this month only, we’ll go to Atlantic City on July 11, instead of the first Monday of the month, which some people thought interfered with 4th of July festivities. Bus departs from the Pathmark lot at 9 a.m. Please note this so you won’t be disappointed. Call Jo for details at 908-359-6418.

CHAPTER B
Chapter B members meet on June 9 for the Anniversary Luncheon. The luncheon with a country western theme will be held at the Somerville Elks.
Doors will open at 11 a.m. and our social hour will begin at 11:45 with dinner to follow at 1 p.m. Tickets at $30 per person were sold in advance; upon attendance, you’ll receive a refund of $20.
Our annual special ‘Breakfast with Seniors’ is being held at the Municipal Building on June 23. Cost is $3. This is our breakfast where invited guests from Emeritus Assisted Living and Avalon Assisted Living attend. Pancakes, eggs, pastry and bagels along with coffee and juice are on the menu. Games and prizes immediately follow breakfast.
Tickets for our annual August picnic went on sale at our May meeting and will be offered for sale again in July. Picnic will be at the Polish Falcon Hall in Hillsborough on Aug. 11 for a cost of $20. A refund of $15 will be given upon attendance at event. As per request of some members, some salads have been added to the menu. I think you will be pleased with the changes.
As many of you know, we have three wonderful senior activity rooms in the Municipal Building which are open to all seniors over 60 each weekday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
These rooms are used each day with people playing bridge on Tuesday mornings, mah jongg on Friday mornings, pool and shuffleboard several afternoons and many other card games. But our new co-presidents Ed and Nancy Bertin would like to have even more events each day beginning in September. So get your thinking cap on and come up with some ideas to present to them. They are open for suggestions.
