LAMBERTVILLE — Cynthia Ege has been appointed city clerk of Lambertville.
Ms. Ege, who had been acting city clerk, was appointed to a three-year term ending July 1, 2114 by a unanimous vote of the City Council Monday night.
Mayor David Del Vecchio, who noted that Ms. Ege has “passed the test” the state requires of all municipal clerks, joined council members in giving her a round of applause after her appointment had been approved.
”It’s been a very rewarding job,” Ms. Ege said. “Thank you for the experience and opportunity.”
The mayor noted that Ms. Ege’s three-year appointment is to a non-tenured position. If she is reappointed at the end of her term, she would be tenured, he said.
A former councilwoman, Ms. Ege was hired as interim clerk in August 2009 for one year. She replaced Lori Buckelew, who had gone to work as a legislative analyst for the New Jersey State League of Municipalities.
Mrs. Ege took the post on Aug. 31, 2009. Because she did not hold state certification for the job then, she had to take courses and pass a state examination to become certified.
Mrs. Ege served 12 years on the council with one term as president. Her final term on the council ended Dec. 31, 2008. She also served six years on the Zoning Board of Adjustment and two years on the Planning Board. She served five years on the Lambertville Public School Board of Education and two years as president of the Lambertville PTA. She attended Mercer County Community College and holds certifications in human resources and marketing. She also holds a certification in grant writing.
IN OTHER BUSINESS, the council accepted the resignation of tax collector Bonnie Eick, effective Aug. 31, and introduced an ordinance amending the city’s salary and wage ordinance to allow changing the tax collector position to part-time from full-time.
The proposed measure, scheduled for a public hearing and adoption vote at council’s July 18 meeting, “will give us the ability be flexible,” the mayor said.
The salary range for the part-time tax collector would be $10,000 to $43,000 annually if the ordinance passes.
Also at Monday night’s meeting, Diane Sherry Buono was appointed acting Lambertville’s acting chief financial officer (CFO), retroactive to June 1.
The resignation of Paul Cronce, public works director, effective July 31, was accepted.
Stanley Troy was appointed the city’s public defender, to complete an unexpired term ending Dec. 31.
Matthew Tyler Bast was appointed part-time parking enforcement officer, at $12 per hour.
The council’s votes on all these moves were unanimous.
Also approved unanimously were:
— A resolution approving an amendment with Advance Building Maintenance, under which that firm may work an additional day per week in the city’s police department; and
— A resolution authorizing the awarding of a contract with Strober Roofing, for roof repairs at the police station.
