HILLSBOROUGH: Schools’ raffle features $13,000 in prizes

The Auten Road and the Hillsborough Middle schools’ Home School Associations are teaming up to sponsor a spring raffle that will equally benefit both schools. The raffle will replace two separate basket auctions originally planned and should be the two groups’ largest fundraiser this year.
The drawing will be held at Board of Education work meeting at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 20.
Tickets are $10 each or $50 for six tickets. Only 5,000 tickets have been printed. Tickets will be sold tonight, Thursday, at Auten Road School from 6:30-8 during the new-parent orientation, and at the HSA meeting in the cafeteria of Auten Road School on Tuesday, June 14, from 7-8:30 p.m. and on Wednesday, June 15, in the Auten Road School cafeteria from 7-8 p.m. at the band parent orientation or e-mail [email protected].
Among the prizes are golf foursomes at Trump National or Royce Brook courses, Pandora bracelet and charms, a Kindle, power washing, $1,200 orthodontia certificate, iPad2, two packages of gift cards to local restaurants, park and games admissions, and tickets to the Somerset Patriots, Disney World and indoor theaters and cinemas.
The two HSAs spend more than $70,000 a year on programs and extras for schools, including assemblies, the Auten Road School Carnival and DARE Graduation, overhead projectors in classrooms, the new middle school sign.
Because of the support from local and national businesses, 20 prizes valued at more than $13,000 will be offered.
Each raffle ticket comes with four chances to win — you get one chance to win a prize in each of four color-coded clusters. There will be five winners per cluster (20 total).
