More Sunshine needed

Carol de Groot, Bordntown Township
I am just wondering how many of the residents of the township have signed up for the notices via email about township meetings.
Did you get one for the meeting of June 20th? I certainly did not get one. This is the same meeting that was canceled the previous week, not enough committee people. It seems to me if you can’t make the meetings, then maybe you shouldn’t be on the committee. Again no notice, only a sign taped to the door. A number of people stood outside waiting for the meeting, even a department head was there. However I did get a notice about Bordentown City’s Farmers Market. How about June 27th meeting?
Here is what the web site has on it:
“Each time the web site is updated you will receive an e-Bulletin informing you what has been updated with a link directly to the revised/new information. In addition, Bordentown Township will use e-Bulletins as another method to update residents in the event of an ýPage=004 Column=001 OK,0019.00þ
emergency or issuance of a resident advisory. “
It makes me wonder, are they trying to hide something or maybe they just don’t want anyone in the audience that may ask a question or two. They seem to have the attitude we are going to do what we want and really don’t care what the residents want. Previous Township Committees have had work sessions to discuss impending votes.
This includes a vote on the school board budget, which disregarded the vote of the township residents. They voted to except the budget without any change. These work sessions are required to be open to the public by state law. It is interesting that our committee has not had any work sessions recently but their votes are predetermined when they start the scheduled township meetings.
Let’s remember this year in November and the next couple of years and replace them.
