Hillsborough people are helping to organize a Central Jersey Hurricane Irene Relief show to benefit the Somerset County chapter of the American Red Cross.
The concert will be Friday Sept. 23, at Soho Lounge at La Quinta Inn & Suites, 60 Cottontail Lane (corner of Route 287 and Weston Canal Road), Somerset. Doors open at 7, first band at 8.
Mr. Summers notes the group’s normal venue at Rhythm’s in Manville was devastated by the hurricane.
Virgin Vinyl will be joined by two other bands, High In The Mid 80’s and High Maintenance.
”Our inspiration is to help pay it forward to the flood victims from Hurricane Irene and the latest flooding our area experienced less than a week later,” said Jenn Haley, who is helping with marketing and publicity.
The group is looking for businesses to donate gift certificates, baskets of products, and other items that can be used for basket auctions to help raise more money for the Red Cross.
Dean Summers, a Hillsborough resident and business entrepreneur who founded Virgin Vinyl, championed the idea of a benefit concert.
’&Virgin Vinyl is postponing its Rock Out Loud Reunion show, and instead hosting a benefit concert to raise money for the rebuilding process.
