A tree maintenance project will close Route 206 beginning on Monday, Oct. 24, but a traffic mitigation plan is in effect.
The work will take place between Ewing Street and Herrontown Road in Princeton Township.
During work times Route 206 will be closed to car and light truck traffic. Large trucks will be staged at either end of the work area, and will be allowed to pass through the closed roadway periodically. Detours for automobile and light trucks will be well posted and will route both north and southbound traffic onto Mt. Lucas Road.
The work is being conducted as a maintenance issue in response to problems that were encountered during and after the heavy rains that were experienced in late August.
The project, which is being conducted by Princeton Township in conjunction with the New Jersey Department of Transportation, PSE&G, and Verizon, is scheduled to take place during the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day for a period of two weeks.
Beginning on Oct. 17, NJDOT will place variable message signs on Route 206 to alert motorists to the upcoming road closure.
