WEST WINDSOR Administrators are saying that a situation where students and teachers were getting sick at West Windsor-Plainsboro High School South from a roof repair project has been resolved.
”There were some concerns raised by three parents and a few staff members based on a certain noise and smell,” said Gerri Hutner, communications spokeswoman for West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional School District.
The complaints started on Oct. 3 when the contractors were working during school hours.
The area involved four classrooms 250 A, B, C and D.
The West Windsor senior registered environmental health specialist checked out the situation on Oct. 11 and said three rooms were not affected and placed a fan in room 250A.”We did an inspection and found that there were some slight odors in room 250A,” said Bob Harry, health officer. “There was a note telling students to report to another classroom.”
”Everything has been cleared now,” Ms. Hutner said.
”Despite our best efforts to minimize the effects of sound and odor, students and staff were being disturbed by the roofing project,” said Principal Rosenne Bonino in a letter sent to parents who contacted her.
The roofing project is anticipated to last until the end of November, according to the letter.
The school is taking the appropriate course of action while the work is being done,” Mr. Harry said.
