Three people were arrested at the Hotel Vincenza on Dec. 1 while officers investigated a report of a stolen wallet from a pizza deliveryman, according to police.
Detective Ken Herman and Patrolman Gagan Chopra responded to the hotel on Route 1 around 8:30 p.m. last Thursday to investigate a report of a pizza deliveryman’s stolen wallet, Sgt. James Ryan said in a press release Dec. 2.
While speaking to the occupants in one of the rooms, the officers noticed syringes and other drug paraphernalia, according to the release.
A search of the room found 162 decks of a substance police believe to be heroin, one gram of what police identified as cocaine, a smaller amount of marijuana and 48 syringes.
The officers also confiscated $1,582 in cash and some jewelry from the room, according to the release.
Police charged Evan Simpson, 24, of North Brunswick, with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The other two occupants of the room, Holly Hester, 22, of South Brunswick, and Anthony Ruvolo, 25, of North Brunswick, each were charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia, according to police.
Mr. Simpson was lodged in the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $75,000 bail, and both Ms. Hester and Mr. Ruvolo were released on summonses pending their first court appearance, according to police.
