WEST AMWELL: Power, phone woes are township topics

By John Tredrea, Special Writer
WEST AMWELL — A representative of JCP&L (Jersey Central Power and Light) conferred with the West Amwell Township Committee and residents Monday night about power outages that have occurred in the township.
John Anderson, of JCP&L, said his company would work to solve the outage problem. Of particular concern is the area around Rock and Corsalo roads, which sometimes have outages even when there is no inclement weather.
Conferring with the committee and residents on a similar issue was Anna Lustenberg, of Verizon.
Problems with power lines have been causing loss of land-line telephone service. Like Mr. Anderson, Ms. Lustenberg took the names of residents who have been having these problems and said her firm would work to solve them.
Sworn in as a full-time police officer at Monday night’s meeting was Jeffrey Jones, who will replace Anthony Doccia, who retired recently.
Mr. Jones has been working as a part-time police officer for the township since May 2011.
Appointed as substitute construction technician for one year was Diane McDaniels.
Appointments to volunteer boards also were made Monday.
Ted Hills was appointed to the township Planning Board to complete an unexpired term that ends Dec. 31. Mr. Hills will be the second alternate member of the board.
Lauren Hills was appointed to the township Open Space Committee for three years.
