MANVILLE: Senior Corner, week of Jan. 5

   The Manville Senior Citizens meet at 12:30 p.m. the second Thursday of each month at the VFW on Washington Avenue. The club, which is comprised of people who are residents of Manville, age 60 or older, and age 55 if disabled, will not be accepting new members until January.
   Canned goods or non-perishable food items continue to be collected before each meeting, as well as soup labels. Food donations are needed by the Food Bank.
   Blood pressure screening is held before each meeting for members.
   Officers for 2012 will be installed at the Jan. 12 meeting. They are President Natalie Walkoviak; 1st Vice-President Phil Petrone; 2nd Vice-President Josephine Pschar; Financial Secretary Sally Kennedy; Recording Secretary Thelma Bartus; Corresponding Secretary Ann Foeri; Treasurer Bill Evans; Sergeant-at-Arms Ann Feschak; trustees Barbara Panfile, Terry Evans and Joe Patero, and chaplains Ann Domagala and Skip Picciano.
   The Mohegan Sun trip on Feb. 12-14 still has a few openings. A trip to Niagara Falls for late May or early June was proposed, with more information coming at the Jan. 12 meeting.

   Recreation Events
   • Feb. 12-14 — Mohegan Sun Casino trip; includes optional trip to Foxwood Casino for bingo or gambling. Contact Donna Pierrot at 908-722-0325. This trip is open to the public.
   • Atlantic City — The club is running a $2 bus trip on Saturday, Jan. 28, to Bally’s Casino. Contact Bill Evans or Theresa Evans at 908-625-5013. The bus leaves from the VFW parking lot.
   • Atlantic City — The bus leaves at 9 a.m. from the VFW parking lot on the third Wednesday of each month for Showboat Casino and the cost is $25. This trip is open to the public by reservation only. Make your reservation with Josephine Pschar at the meeting or call her at 908-722-0156.
