Letter missed the point about protests

Paul Budline, Princeton
To the editor:
The Rev. Robert Moore managed to write a 400-word letter without ever addressing the main point of my As I See It piece, “Where Have All the Protests Gone?”
This has nothing to do with Kosovo, Clinton or other history. The simple fact is that our current president has dispatched drones, assassinated a U.S. citizen, blown away civilians, escalated the war in Afghanistan, and generally operated as a most efficient killing machine. Yet the anti-war left, steeped in righteous indignation when President Bush was doing the killin’, has been pretty much AWOL. That is not an opinion, but an indisputable fact.
I was not criticizing Rev. Moore, who is no doubt a committed advocate, nor his organization. Rather, my ridicule is reserved for his former acolytes, most of whom exited, stage left, as soon as President Obama was elected. Rev. Moore’s sincerity is not in question; theirs most definitely is. Right now I don’t think he could round up enough anti-war protesters for a decent football game (two-handed touch, of course.)
And, yes, I’ll repeat a simple observation: Many of our liberal elite take a very, very dim view of the military and anyone who wears the uniform. Is that really in doubt?
